Sign up to Zimbra

by admin last modified 2008-03-17 13:15

Welcome to our hosted Zimbra service. The following contains a comprehensive account of how to sign up to our hosted service quickly and easily.

Signup buttonMost clients want their own domain name (so email goes to name@mycompany.com). This assumes that domain is already registered (if not, we can register domains and manage DNS for you for a small fee).

The information we need from you

Just send the following to info@axiomtech.co.uk

1. Company name, address and telephone number along with primary technical contact (the person we speak to about Zimbra) and the accounts person we send the bills to.
2. Domain name for email (e.g. mycompany.com)
3. For each account, the account name (i.e. email address) and user's full name.
4. If you want one or more of the accounts to have admin rights (the ability to create/delete/edit accounts and groups within the domain), let us know which.
5. An email from you saying you want to proceed on the basis below.

Once we've got this information, we'll set up your accounts and let you know the initial passwords (please change them).

The information you need from us

If you are using your own email domain with hosted Zimbra (e.g. mycompany.com), you'll need to make some changes to your DNS setup. We'll give you the details when you sign up and help you if you're not sure how to do it.

How we bill

We bill at the end of each month, charging £5.50+VAT for each account. We bill based on the highest number of accounts you have an any one time during the month (as you can create and delete your own accounts if you wish). Contract period is for a minimum of three months, and monthly thereafter.

Please note that mailboxes over 2GB in size, are available for £1 per GB per month.

How long does it take to set up

Once we've got the information above, setting up the accounts will be done within a few working hours.  However, bear in mind that changing existing DNS entries can take longer and may be out of our control.

If you have an MX record for your domain (which sends email somewhere else), you'll need to change it to point to our server (we'll tell you how).  It may take your current DNS provider time to do this and, once made, the change takes a few days to filter through the Internet, so some emails may go to the old location for up to a week.  If you are creating a new domain, this will not be a problem.
